Clara Franke is a multimedia visual artist producing mainly lens based work, but also graphic design, ceramics and costume/clothing design. Persistently learning new crafts, cameras have been the strongest consistency throughout her practice.
Born in 1998 in Hamburg, Clara later studied in Albuquerque (attending Media Arts Collaborative Charter School in 2015), Groningen (Bachelor in Design at Academie Minerva 2022), Berlin (internship with THE PEOPLE° in 2021) and Rotterdam (currently following the Master "Lens Based Media" at Piet Zwart Institute).
While constantly evolving, what one always finds in her work is an underlying sense of muted colours and a general dreamy aesthetic that can be seen in all of her creative work.
In 2021 Clara self published her first photo book called ORKZ, visualising the community and its inhabitants in an old hospital that she used to call her home as well.
Often working with musicians and DJs, one will find photographs for example of Ben Böhmer, KevKoko, Resident or Miel.
Reoccurring topics are those of female/discriminated bodies, mythological/fantasy creatures and garments & the story they carry.
